75 Ideas for Sweet Self-Care

(in no order of importance)

  1. take a nap
  2. take a bath
  3. call someone you love
  4. take a walk
  5. get a massage (from a partner or a professional)
  6. read a book or magazine
  7. hang out with animals (your pets, go to a farm)
  8. walk around a museum
  9. write a love letter to yourself
  10. send some snail mail
  11. treat yourself to something new
  12. hug someone
  13. go to bed early
  14. catch a yoga class
  15. set your timer, close your eyes, and breathe for 1-5 minutes
  16. sign up for a class of any kind (art, movement, language, dance, acting?)
  17. walk around your neighborhood and take photos
  18. light candles or incense at home
  19. set your timer and organize one thing (drawer, shelf, cabinet) for 15 minutes
  20. try a new recipe or make a favorite one
  21. go volunteer for something important to you (animals, kids, women?)
  22. have dinner by candlelight, with cloth napkins (even if it’s just you)
  23. buy the softest bed sheets you can find
  24. get a mani/pedi
  25. start your morning with hot water and lemon
  26. make a playlist of your favorite songs and listen as often as possible
  27. set your timer and write down all the awesome things about you for 10 minutes
  28. schedule a facial
  29. watch some YouTube videos on something you want to learn (make-up or hair lessons?)
  30. take a bath or hot shower
  31. get out your favorite essential oils and diffuse/rub/smell
  32. set your timer and have a dance party with yourself for 5-10 minutes
  33. color in one of those adult coloring books
  34. pick a trail and hike a new path
  35. clear your schedule for a block of time (an hour or 4) and allow yourself to do whatever you want
  36. make a cup of tea
  37. set your timer and stretch for 5-10 minutes
  38. make a lady date for tea, coffee, or lunch
  39. knit, crochet, or sew
  40. go for a run or a jog
  41. set your timer and write down everything you’re grateful for for 10 minutes
  42. visit a library
  43. grab a bunch of magazines, cut out everything that speaks to you, and make a vision board
  44. try self-massage with oils or dry brushing
  45. make a list of anything (of movies or shows you want to watch, places you want to visit, things you’d like to try) and pick/do one of the things within the next week
  46. unplug for one day (phone, tv, internet (gasp!)); or maybe half a day. Or maybe 2 hours.
  47. make art (sketch, draw, paint, collage) and don’t worry about how great or not-great it is
  48. say a prayer and say “what’s up?” to your higher power or your inner guide
  49. fill a bag or two with quality things you no longer use and donate them
  50. find a quote you love and tape it to your bathroom mirror
  51. go to bed early
  52. buy a plant for your home or office
  53. paint your own nails
  54. have lunch somewhere new
  55. visit an antiques shop or thrift store
  56. plant some seeds
  57. take a bike ride
  58. try a new class at your gym (or get a Groupon or Classpass for somewhere new)
  59. watch YouTube videos of animals (I suggest puppies, goats, or orangutans)
  60. watch a TED talk
  61. put on a guided meditation and get real chill
  62. listen to a new podcast
  63. plan a getaway (for a night or 10)
  64. host a game night
  65. go to a crafts or painting night with a girlfriend
  66. plan a camping trip
  67. put some of your clothes in a box and forget about them for a year (then when you find them, it’ll feel like you just went shopping!)
  68. watch a documentary
  69. start a new journal
  70. do something nice and unexpected for a friend
  71. do something nice and unexpected for a stranger
  72. start a new pinterest board of stuff you’ll actually do/make/buy and keep it simple
  73. grab a jar, write down one good thing in it every day for the rest of the year, and review at year’s end
  74. buy or make something new for your home (pillows, rug, curtains)
  75. spend an hour in a local bookstore in an area new or favorite to you
